Tim Franks is a Member of KKR. He joined the firm in 2017 and leads the development of KKR’s activities in the UK & Ireland. He is also head of the Consumer & Retail industry team in EMEA Private Equity. Tim serves as a member of KKR's European Private Equity Investment Committee and European Portfolio Management Committee. He is one of the sponsors of the firm’s Inclusion Network Council.
Prior to joining KKR, Tim was a partner at the private equity firm Advent International focusing on the technology and consumer sectors. At Advent, he sat on both the North American and European investment committees, and was involved in more than 13 transactions over a 17 year period. He spent the majority of his Advent career in London, but also opened and led Advent's New York office for three years. Prior to Advent, he worked at CS First Boston, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, and the United Nations. He is an advisor to The Global Good Fund, and is also affiliated to the social impact network Mustard Seed.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Cambridge 1994, and a Master’s in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard 1996 where he was a Herchel Smith scholar.
Tim lives in London with his husband Andrew, and their 1 year old twin boys.
