Rupert Abbott is the Executive Director of GiveOut, the new charity raising funds for LGBTQI human rights activism worldwide. He has over a decade of international human rights experience and co-founded the human rights experts’ hub RightsStart. He led the Institutional Development Programme at the Human Rights House Foundation, was Deputy Director of Amnesty International’s Asia-Pacific Programme, served with the United Nations as the Acting Head of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal’s legal defence section, and was the Director of Programmes and Organisational Development at the Cambodian Center for Human Rights. Rupert is a Trustee of the LGBT Switchboard Brighton, a member of the Law Society’s International Action Team and serves on the Advisory Board of the Future Forum think tank in Southeast Asia. He trained and qualified as a lawyer at the global firm Baker & McKenzie, studied law at the University of Sussex and holds a BA and MA in modern history from the University of Oxford.
